Tap danced in a kickline into the mysterious cult-LOpSoc in January 2014 and has been part of the chorus in all shows since. Webmaster in 2015/16, had a great time as a producer of [[H.M.S. Pinafore 2015]] (major achievement: getting golden sequin PINA4 tops on stage), and is now looking forward to work as one of the musical directors in [[Gondoliers 2016]]. Some say Renata is a secret fairy and immortal, or a mere collective illusion arising from a combination of Ribena overdose and silent moments during tech runs... Who knows... Will try to sing anything from high soprano to low tenor AND SOUND FABULOUS! And fail when attempting the bass line. Note: has a long plait. Why? We may never find out...

The set for Trial by Jury consisted of 3 foldable boxes, the defendant's box (1m/1m/1.2m), the judge's box (1m/2m/1.2m) and the jury's box (2m/3m/1.2m). All of the boxes, but in particular the jury's box, were very heavy. Some changes had to be made after the first night, when [[ Amy Whitington| a certain chorus member]] destroyed the side of the jury's box.

Iolanthe 2015

Iolanthe was performed by LOpSoc in February 2015 at the [[Annex Theatre]]

One of LOpSoc's more radical productions, this was a modernisation of the G&S operetta, updated to 1982 and gender-swapped.

The production went on to be performed at the 22nd International G&S Festival in Harrogate, where it won 3 awards: Best Director, Best Costumes and Best Character Actress.

H.M.S Pinafore was well received garnering a 5 star review from the Soton Tab.

It received Curtain Call nominations for Jennifer Riggs Performance as Josephine (Best Performance in an Opera) as well as for both Directors (Best Director of a Musical or Opera).

Barnaby Wilson

== Biography ==

Barnaby "Barney" Wilson (other nicknames listed below) is an esteemed LOpSoc member who's contributed a lot to our society. He's made himself known through principal parts, direction, or giving us fresh fuel for the nonexistent meme page that definitely does not exist. He was born, as all other people are, some time in the mid 90s, and lived an easy life of comfort before taking a Maths degree and deciding to do LOpSoc shows somewhere around 2015. His first principal part as Philip in the Iolanthe run of Harrogate started a spiral into insanity most people call "LOpSoc membership" but his psychiatrist called "unacceptable". His role as Philip also led to him discovering his special power: a Pokemon-esque [["AAAAAA" sound blast]] that shattered the ear drums of several audience members, and left several cast members with the inability to hear anything but the opening notes to "O Shameless One, Tremble" for 36 hours.

After a successful run of Iolanthe, during which he was only partially unnerved, Barney took some control over the music of H.M.S Pinafore as our esteemed co-MD. This left him open to the sisters cousins and aunts chorus, according to this biographer, alternately hitting on him and doing as they were told. Such attention gave him war flashbacks to Iolanthe, a condition he still suffers whenever he hears the sounding brasses loudly bang or looks at a picture of the Houses of Parliament for longer than 10 seconds. Pinafore, however, was a resounding success. Which is nice.

Barnaby is a man who enjoys being involved in production teams. His next position was telling the rabble we call LOpSoc just how many Fruma Sarahs (experts say it was "quite a few") to sing in Fiddler on the Roof as our co-MD. His capacity for involvement didn't end there, as he played His Honour the Priest, a little Jewish boy, the world's least threatening Russian and the summoned ghost of Derek Jacobi in a show that critics called "actually quite good". Such versatility was well rewarded as he moves on to playing Marco in the upcoming show The Gondoliers. We know he can take a pair of sparkling eyes, but I really wish he'd stop carrying them around in his pocket.

Tap danced into the mysterious cult-LOpSoc in January 2014 and has been part of the chorus in all shows since. Had a great time as a producer of [[H.M.S. Pinafore 2015]], and is now looking forward to work as one of the musical directors in [[Gondoliers 2016]]. Renata is also the current LOpSoc webmaster (2015/2016). She is also famed for stating she is of a "great age" yet never reveals what this is. Some say she is a secret fairy, immortal, others think she may be the youngest member of Lopsoc. Only she knows.....

'''Joe "Wanna" Hand''' is a third year zoology student at Southampton, who kids himself that he'll be able to leave Southampton when he graduates and seek alternative arrangements in London, where the pavements are gold and only sometimes chewing gum. He also sometimes refers to himself in the third person. He was the LOpSoc secretary for the 2014/2015 year, and ordinary member for the 2015/2016 year.

His LOpSoc career began with his first appearance as the Pirate King in the Southampton run of [[Pirates of Penzance 2014]] and [[Pirates of Penzance 2014 (Harrogate)]], during which he hip thrusted so much at the audience that his pelvis turned into solid gold. To this day, Joe's hips have about the same value as the GDP of Lesotho. His role as Toby in [[Sweeney Todd 2014]] was more or less the exact opposite of the Pirate King, and turned his co-star [[Jon North]] off meat pies and shaved heads for life. To sing as Toby, Joe had to sing higher than his comfortable range, and for around two weeks after the show he spent around three weeks sounding like an understudy for Alvin and the Chipmunks.

He took a small break from LOpSoc shows to star in the cross-PA "mescaline trip" of a show ''The Case of the Film Genre Killer'', before returning to direct [[H.M.S. Pinafore 2015]] with Jon North and several of his knees. His "angry fairy" character for [[Iolanthe 2015]]'s Harrogate run will not be forgotten - especially not by several other chorus members' boots, which still bear scars from his outbursts of pure, unrestrained rage. Fans of Joe's "great big busshy beard" will be excited to learn that he plays the magnificently fuzzed Tevye in LOpSoc's 2016 production of [[Fiddler on the Roof]].

He has sung for 7 years in a choir, and for 3 of those was part of an a capella group. He owns 37 tortoises, a ferret, a St. Bernard, a cat, two chickens and three preying mantises called Haley, Ophelia and Beans, who are also all part of an a capella group.

He guesses he'd probably like to end up living in the Lake District or something, although anywhere which has a solid supply of d20s and beard combs will do just fine.

Joe died in March 2014 when he was mercilessly shaved off of the face of [[Ulf]], his host organism, but was reborn weeks later after an industrial accident created a perfect genetic clone from three stray hairs, a printout of his Reddit karma, and an old D&D Monster Manual.

Rhona is a second year languages student studying German and Spanish, (although the fact that she is editing her wiki instead of listening to her lecturer shows how much work she is putting into her degree). Born in England, raised in Wales, she attempted to make up for lost Englishness by joining LOpSoc in 2014, during her first year. Her first show was the Southampton run of Iolanthe, during which the UV for the dramatic scenes had the same effect as a tanning booth, rendering her skin a crispy golden brown.

She boarded the HMS Pinafore in February 2015 to take part in her second show, mucking around in the chorus once again. She formed a strong working relationship with [[Katie Giles]] in both version of her character, the Vodka Aunt (for which she received the Order of Lenin from a grateful Vladimir Putin) and in her words "the prim but slutty aunt". It was during this production run that she first suggested the idea of the now ubiquitous [[LOpSoc Naked Charity Calendar]], which led to Rhona becoming the youngest ever LOpSoc member to have a meme made from them. The production run also saw the appearance of the famous "Rhona bitch face", which has been known to destroy the minds of lesser men. Rhona returned to her raptor fairy ways in the Harrogate production of Iolanthe, causing several pensioners to congratulate her after the show for such a wonderful performance in Jurassic Park.

Rhona was the wardrobe manager for LOpSoc's 2016 production of [[Fiddler on the Roof 2016]], which fulfilled her childhood dream of dressing people up like Yiddish peasant doll people and forcing them to re-enact Russian pogroms. Needless to say, everyone enjoyed the range of brown clothing, particularly [[Ben Walker]], whose closing comment was "Thank you for making me so beige." She also thinks that the show's subplot about potatoes really deserved more attention, but then, this is why she isn't a director.

Rhona's next LOpSoc endeavour if the role of The Duchess in The Gondoliers, along with [[Venetia Matthews]]. She will do 3 of the Annexe perfomances, as she is unable to attend Harrogate this year, much to her sadness. However, she will be teaching music in Argentina for a year, so in the grand scheme of things, she's not too upset.

When not mucking around in the chorus, Rhona enjoys tweeting pictures of rare ironing boards and playing Quidditch, which she continues to insist is a real sport and not just rugby with a broom between your legs.

'''Katie-Louise Giles''' is a second year English student who has veered horrendously off course into the arms of PA. Which is strange, as she started her university career thinking she was honestly going to get some work done and read a lot of fun books. She can often be found in the company of [[Ben Walker]], and their more or less joining at the hip has earned them more than a few funny looks in the past.

Having started her PA career pretending to be both a French woman and an easily distracted factory worker in ComedySoc's 2014 "acid trip" of a show ''The Case of the Film Genre Killer'', Katie then had her post-show blues exploited by her fellow cast member [[Joe Hand]], who was directing [[H.M.S. Pinafore 2015]] at the time. Joe's heartless pragmatism (he needed more altos for the Sisters, Cousins and Aunts chorus) paid off, as she went on to be the world's most cult-orientated fresher possible when she boarded H.M.S Pinafore in February 2015. She was seduced by the opportunity to be a Victorian lady, bob and repeat her status endlessly, even going as far as to buy the DVD of LOpSoc's performance of [[Pirates of Penzance 2014]] - a show which happened before she even came to university and thus she wasn't even in. In her words, "It's still a good show, who cares". Such commitment to the society earned her the title of LOpSoc's "Biggest Fan", a title which can now only be relinquished in the event of her death in a duel with another worthy foe.

In August 2015,to rectify the grevious error of not joining for its original run, she joined the Fairy Chorus for the 2015 Harrogate run of Iolanthe, becoming a punk rock fairy who doesn't play by the rules (unless the Fairy King tells her to). She then threw herself fully into the role of Shaindel and also Grumpiest Yiddish Peasant in the Land in LOpSoc's 2016 show, [[Fiddler on the Roof 2016]]. She is uncertain of how she managed to convince the prod team that she is a natural mother, with the baby face that she has. (She is not complaining, she will do anything for more attention). To be honest, she only joined to get a chance to club Ben into the dust, the honour bestowed on [[Barnaby Wilson]].

She now looks ahead to going back to her roots as a swooning, sighing Victorian as Cardboard Cutout Contadine-I mean,Giulia in LOpSoc's summer show, [[Gondoliers 2016]], fawning over poor unfortunate [[Jamie Hizzett]]. He really doesn't deserve this psychological scarring, but is going to get it anyway, because [[Joe Hand]] and [[Owen Perring]] say so.

Born Benjamin Jonathan Oliver Walker, Ben is a second year English and philosophy student (though he prefers the term "philosopher poet") who blundered into LOpSoc more or less by accident in his first year, and stayed because he liked the productions' constant use of the word "wherefore". He is the incumbent Loremaster for the 2015/16 academic year, which means he's now responsible for editing and updating all the pages on here to be more current and "on-message with LOpSoc's new corporate philosophy".

Ben began his PA career searching for personal validation in acid trips of shows like ComedySoc's cross-PA production ''The Case of the Film Genre Killer'' and his own stand-up, with limited success. Soon after Genre Killer ended, he and fellow "innocent" first year [[Katie Giles]] were poached by HMS Pinafore director [[Joe Hand]] (the Inspector from ''Genre Killer'') to screw around in the back of his show, thus beginning a beautiful relationship with Victorian colonial propaganda. Ben then went up to Harrogate with the rest of LOpSoc to be a punk rock fairy - in his words, "if there are three words I want to describe me at all times, those would be the three". There, he made an excellent friend in his cup of tea, which was, to quote " the only thing that didn't have the capacity to hurt me." Building on that success, he's now taking a short holiday to Anatevka to be the world's worst Bolshevik in LOpSoc's 2016 production of [[Fiddler on the Roof 2016]].

After a pretty successful run in Fiddler, he's happy to take on the role of the Duke and Duchess' valet/servant/pet monkey Luiz in LOpSoc's upcoming summer show The Gondoliers. He hopes his grade 8 coconut playing skills will be up to the task.

Building on that success, he's now taking a short holiday to Anatevka to be the world's worst Bolshevik in LOpSoc's 2016 production of [[Fiddler on the Roof 2016]].

After a pretty successful run in Fiddler, he's happy to take on the role of the Duke and Duchess' valet/servant/pet monkey Luiz in LOpSoc's upcoming summer show The Gondoliers. He hopes his grade 8 coconut playing skills will be up to the task.

=== Biography ===

Jon joined the society in 2012 for The Sorcerer and never looked back, he then went on to do several shows for the society before getting in the Directors chair for the 2014 Nuffield Production The Pirates of Penzance.
Along the way he acted as Chairman for the society for the period 2013-14 during which the society tripled in size. He also worked on several shows with LOpSoc's sister societies Showstoppers, Theatre Group and StageSoc.

In 2014 Jon won the Best Director award at the 21st International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival for his work on The Pirates of Penzance, which won five awards in total including Best Show, while also being nominated for a further two.

His 2015 Production of H.M.S Pinafore, co-directed with Joseph Hand received a five star review from the Soton Tab as well as two Daily Echo Curtain Call nominations including one for Best Director of a Musical or Opera. He received life membership in 2015.

== Biography ==
Alexander Richard Conway joined LOpSoc in 2012 during his second year of MEng Aerospace Engineering. Grade 8 with distinction at singing and on the saxophone, Alex played music with the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Service and Prince William School extensively prior to coming to Southampton. Since then, he has performed in 4 LOpSoc including playing the role of Frederic in LOpSoc's award-winning production of "The [[Pirates of Penzance 2014]]".

==Biography==

Amy joined LOpSoc in the 2014/15 season and played violin in the band for [[Iolanthe 2015]], before joining the chorus for [[H.M.S. Pinafore 2015]], and then the Peers Chorus for [[Iolanthe 2015 (Harrogate)]]. In 2016 she was Musical Director and conducted the band for [[Fiddler on the Roof]]. She is due to play ''Casilda'' in [[Gondoliers 2016]].

Amy is studying the language of sound amidst the human capacity of receiving vibrations in a pleasurable manner, music, at the University of Southampton. She is the almost integral second wheel in the 'Geonamy' relationship.
