Richard joined LOpSoc as director in 2009, his second year of university, and stayed until he graduated in 2012. During his time he managed to do this, that and the other.
He rejoined briefly in late 2013 to codirect [[Sweeney Todd 2014]] and take up the role of Sergeant of Police in [[Pirates of Penzance 2014]]. In this role in [[Pirates of Penzance 2014 (Harrogate)]] he won Best Character Actor in the UNIFest Competition in the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival.
